Back in 1987, I met a girl named June at my church. I was in 1st grade, and she was in kindergarten, so I assumed I was superior. Throughout the years, June proved me wrong. When we were kids, we would go on trips together and pass the time by drawing and coloring. I always got yelled at by June because my drawings were bad and I kept coloring outside of the lines!

Anyways, as we got older, June’s artistic ability grew as well. I went to Bryn Mawr College, and she went to Haverford College; both of us with premed dreams… She figured out sooner than I did that she didn’t want to go to med school after all. She continued to take some art classes at Haverford College. I recall visiting her while she was working on a project, and she gave it to me, which I promptly framed and displayed in my home.

Now, 3 years after she graduating from college, June is now moving forward with her art education in California. I’m so glad that she is finally pursuing what she was always meant to do. I have no doubt in my mind that she will do some awesome things in the future.

I got a nice surprise last night… June sent me an email with this jpeg. Yay! Perfect for my blog header!

Thanks June!
