I got an email the other day from a maid of honor, who is actually a “co- maid of honor.”   Let’s call her MOH1.  MOH1 has helped plan some weddings for her other friends, and therefore her BFF has asked her to be an MOH.  MOH1 and MOH2 (the other co Maid of Honor) recently went to a venue meeting and a dress shop together and MOH1 thinks MOH2 is crazy!  MOH1 is frustrated and thinks the bride should put only one of them in charge. Here is MOH”s question:

Have you ever worked with two maids of honor? and has it ever worked? My friend actually told me that she wanted me in charge because her other friend is drifty and wants to spends tons (where as im organized and thifty). What are your thoughts? I almost want to quit before I start because of this crazy MOH.

At cHill weddings, we get a lot of requests for service for multicultural, interracial, and same sex weddings. Why? Because we believe everyone should have the right to marry who they love, despite the color of their skin or sexual preference.

So how fitting is it that this couple above, the late Mr. and Mrs. Loving, have really touched our hearts today?

The Daily News reported on a new exhibit at International Center of Photography.  Also Mrs. Loving’s documentary will air on February 14 on HBO (be sure to DVR it!).  Their love, story, and all they went through is very important to me not only because I myself married a man outside of my “race” but also because they paved the way so that many of our couples can be married today.

I especially loved Mrs. Loving’s comment:

“Not a day goes by that I don’t think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant to me to have that freedom to marry the person precious to me, even if others thought he was the “wrong kind of person” for me to marry. I believe all Americans, no matter their race, no matter their sex, no matter their sexual orientation, should have that same freedom to marry.”
